I miss Family Double Dare

I once had a roommate that was on their way to a concert, and when I asked them who they were seeing they responded "Good Charlotte. You wouldn't know them; they're punk." This was funny because, 1) I used to listen to a lot of punk (and by that I mean actual punk, not Good Charlotte punk), and 2) Good Charlotte isn't punk. They're a rock band, but that's about it. Anyway, their new video is an episode of Family Double Dare. So, that's fun. Watch it below.

Now is the Golden Age. Rejoice!

I really like TV a lot. I say TV not television because it’s my friend (see the clip below and you’ll get that reference). I truly feel like we’re living in the Golden Age of TV (man, I really wanted to write television there, but that would be rude to my friend). There are so many good shows on right now, it’s staggering.

Pop Culture Wars

Earlier this week, Salon’s Matt Zoller Seitz had an article about how kids today don’t “get” the jokes in older episodes of The Simpson’s. The author’s point was that today’s comedies have too many pop culture references, and what may be funny today, will just be confusing in 5-10 year.

That’s a fair statement, but one that I feel doesn’t matter. The fact that a show like Mike & Molly, which doesn’t have tons of pop-culture references, may be more understandable to future generations, doesn’t make Mike & Molly a better show. I’d rather watch a show that he calls out as one of the reference-o-rama’s biggest culprits, Community. I’m so glad to have that show on TV right now. I hope that Community continues to air (and hopefully becomes more successful) and make pop-culture references that are stale after a few years. Because if Community’s a success, then networks will continue to invest in shows that are 1) good (i.e., not Mike & Molly), and 2) offer immediate satisfaction, which is all anyone really wants.

A little game of "Guess Who?"

Whose body does this describe: "coffee-bean ... velvet-covered cement"? Answer after the jump (don't have anything in your mouth when you read the answer, you may spit it out onto your monitor).

They're watching (or they will be after this evening)

My work is instituting content filtering this evening. I'm not sure how that will affect my days of gambling, porn watching, and hacking, while at work. We'll see if this changes the blog at all. Stay tuned. In the mean time, enjoy this video of a slow loris holding an umbrella (ay ay).

Oh, that's how you Dougie. Thanks Panda.

As I'm sure you've surmised from reading my blog, I am a very hip individual. I like all the coolest music, TV, films (not movies, but films), and cute animal videos. However, one piece of hipness has eluded me. The Dougie. I just never knew what to do when that song came on. Thanks to the video below, I will no longer have to run to the bathroom in fear that my friends will realize my dark secret. Thanks Panda.

Breaking Bad on ABC

Breaking Bad is a great show. It's a thoroughly enjoyable program about meth. I'd heard it was great, after all Bryan Cranston has won three Best Actor in a Drama Emmys in a row for the show, but I never got around to watching it because the issue seemed so dark. I'm guessing that I would've gotten into it sooner if it weren't on a channel that I associated with re-runs of Marx Brothers movies. Thankfully, someone has put together clips of what Breaking Bad would've looked like if it was more relatable to me, and was on a network channel. Enjoy Breaking Bad, ABC style.

It's so hard to say goodbye...

Today is Steve Carell's last day shooting The Office. Sad, right? Right. According to Rainn Wilson's twitter, the angels of comedy are weeping (well, he said "wept" but I like to think they're still a little upset about it). Steve had some great moments on The Office (for some reason him stepping on the George Foreman grill pops into my head, which is below), but nothing that he's done has been quite as funny as Ricky Gervais' impromptu dance on the British version of the office.

A tomahawk of honesty in the scalp of lies.

Damn, the Onion is funny. That's all I got. It's been a long day and I just want to go home. Here's a clip from the Onion News Network. Hope that satisfies you content-thirsty-bastards. Jerks

Winning. For Men.

Apparently Jimmy Fallon's show is funny. That's what I hear anyway. After seeing Jimmy's Impersonation of Charlie Sheen for a new fragrance called "Winning" I'm going to have to give him a shot and watch his show. Seriously, this is some funny stuff here. Maybe my favorite video of the week.

Also, Jimmy has his own Ben and Jerry's flavor now. t's called "Late Night Snack," and it has fudge covered potato chip clusters! Yep. I want that now.

Beard Papa is Magic

I've been busy at work, so I haven't had time to update today. Since I'm busy, read something that I wrote on an old blog of mine:

Sarah Silverman may claim that Jesus is magic, but she must have never met Beard Papa. His magical cream puffs have converted me. Beard Papa is my Jesus now. Sacrilegious? Yes, but insanely delicious.

To make this decision I had to do a lot of soul searching and thought as to who to wage my eternal soul on. Ultimately, I settled on a test that would once and for all settle this debate, a taste test.

Keep your Boehner out of my (your) Uterus

Speaker of the House John Boehner is now a meme. YAY! Thanks to the new tumblr, Keep Your Boehner Out of My Uterus, you can laugh at all of Boehner's misogyny. It's great. Check out some of my favorites below.

Best commercial I've seen all day

Who hasn't imagined what it would be like if cats had thumbs? For me, it always involves my cat playing catch with me, or it opening it's own can of cat food (that lazy bastard always makes me open it now). For the makers of Cravendale milk, it's a little more threatening. Check out the commercial below. It's the best minute you'll spend watching videos online all day.

Community + LOST = Head Exploding

So, Josh Holloway (aka Sawyer) is going to guest on Community for a two-part season finale. This is a take off on last year's Modern Warfare episode which, is one of the best episodes of all time (no not just of Community's history, but all TV's history). I'm guessing that they'll tie in a few LOST easter eggs, because they're clever like that (actually they're so clever that they may go in another cleverer direction and out clever themselves), which will be fun to watch. I the meantime, enjoy the promo from the Modern Warfare episode, and Sawyer's nicknames from seasons 1-3 of LOST.

Garfunkle & Oats - Like the Flight of the Conchords, but not...

Maybe you've seen the videos for Present Face, I Would Never (Have Sex With You), or Worst Song Medley, but have you ever wondered who these two women are sitting on a couch singing at you are? They're Garfunkle and Oats, and they're a comedy-folk duo, like Flight of the Conchords, except that they're women, from America, and don't have a show on HBO. Yet... It seems that HBO is developing a series for the duo. Seems like it could be good. I'm interested in how they'll try to differentiate the show from FOTC's series. Check out what they can do with some money behind them with a new version of This Party Took a Turn for the Douche.
