I went to a Girl Talk concert recently. I bring that up for no other reason then to prove that I am cooler than you. Here's a Girl Talk related cartoon that I came across today. Also, here's a video of said show:
Because if you work with the government all you need to work is three hours. Here's how to spend the other 37 hours.

The New Pornographers are cooler and hipper than you are.
I really like The New Pornographers. I saw them open up for Belle & Sebastian a few years ago, and thought that they were great. Then I found out that they were Canadian, and I knew that I was going to love them (pretty much all of my favorite bands are from Canada).
Check out their new video for "Moves" off their album Together. The song is great, but the video is even better. The video is a trailer for a never-to-be-made biopic of the band's rise and eventual rise (I know it shouldn't work that way, but that's what the movie is about). It features so many of my man-crushes that it's too much work to list them all out (Bill Hader, Paul Rudd, John Oliver, David Glover, Wyatt Cenac, etc. Really, there are a lot of people and I don't like working).

OBEY (My Authority)
Well, these kids sure do have a point. Authority is here to help. I'm glad that they can rock out on their (authority approved) Rock Band instruments and "create" this song. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. That's all they're talking about.

All Day!
Have you been listening to Girl Talk's All Day as much as I have? Good for you. Mashup Breakdown is a great site that allows you to visualize all the samples in each song. Try to see how many samples you can guess on each song.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (or at least Kanye's)
We all know that Kanye's an ass (or at least a gay fish), but apparently he's also very talented at making music (wait, is that why he was famous originally?). His new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, was rated 10 out of 10 by Pitchfork. Pitchfork, which is somewhat harsh when it comes to music (the last studio album that got a 10 out of 10 was Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco. That only came out in 2002), loved this album so much that I'm going to get it.

Who would've thought that Spike Jonze would make a dark, disturbing music video
The greatest rock band on earth (Arcade Fire) has a new music video directed by Spike Jonze and it's really good. That's a shocker I know. Spike Jonze cited Arcade Fire as a "central influence" for Where the Wild Things Are (The movie was meh, but the trailer was AWESOME!).
If you enjoy Spike's short films, you may also want to check out I'm Here (a robot love story).
If you want another Arcade Fire short (interactive) film experience, check out The Wilderness Downtown featuring the song We Used to Wait (you'll need a browser that supports HTML 5, like chrome).

Secrets of Success or: How I stopped worrying and realized I'm not special.
Sometimes I wonder why I'm not more successful (too short for a pro basketball player, not enough rhythm to be a musician, willing to accept a job that only has me work three hours a week, etc.), but according to Malcolm Gladwell it could just be that I don't have the love.

I'm a flirt
Well, I'm not actually a flirt, but R. Kelly is. Today's "interweb video of the day" (did you know that is a feature I've been doing? It is, so keep reading my blog all three of you) is R. Kelly f/ Broken Social Scene - I'm a Flirt (Wizard Whip Edit).
WTF
No, nothing bad happened to me. Something good actually happened. I was introduced to the WTF with Marc Maron podcast (thanks This American Life Blog). WFT is a great podcast where comedian Marc Maron sits down and talks with his comedian friends, what's not to like about that? I just recently finished watching all of the Battlestar Galactica series while at work, so I needed something to listen to while I avoided work.

You're the best
Still feeling down? Just remember the immortal words of Joe 'Bean' Esposito:
Try to be best
'cause you're only a man
and a man's gotto learn to take it
Try to believe
when the going gets rough
that you gotta hang tough to make it
History repeats itself
try and you'll succeed
never doubt that you're the one
and you can have your dream
you're the best around
nothing is gonna ever keep you down

If you like b.s., you’ll love this
One of the best ways to waste time is to listen to podcasts at your desk and stare blankly at an Excel spreadsheet (more on spreadsheets later). I’m a big fan of The Daily Show, and one of my favorite parts of The Daily Show is John Oliver. Now you can get another fix of John via his podcast The Bugle. If you’re a person that enjoys the news and also enjoys satire, puns, and complete b.s., then this is the podcast for you.*
*If you’re a person that doesn’t enjoy those things, then screw you. Go work on being productive and being successful. Jerk.
