Now is the Golden Age. Rejoice!

I really like TV a lot. I say TV not television because it’s my friend (see the clip below and you’ll get that reference). I truly feel like we’re living in the Golden Age of TV (man, I really wanted to write television there, but that would be rude to my friend). There are so many good shows on right now, it’s staggering.

Let’s take a look at comedy first. There are great comedies on networks (NBC alone has Community, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock, and The Office), great comedies on cable (the line-up at FX is killer), and the premium channels still are producing some great stuff, but they could do better (Curb, Weeds used to be good, and Party Down was amazing until it got cancelled). Compare that to what was on 15 years ago, which did include Seinfeld, and… Friends(?), and not much else. See, we have so much stuff to watch now. Cable networks are even re-airing the best comedies from years past. ICF is an amazing network for comedy now. They replay Arrested Development, Mr. Show, The Larry Sanders Show, and they have original series like Portlandia and The Onion News Network. Come on!

I know that there is a bunch of crap on TV too, but there’s always been crap on TV. It may not have always been as aggressively bad as The Jersey Shore, but it’s been there (I’m looking at you My Two Dads, and you Just Shoot Me! ).

Anyway, my point is, watch more TV. If you don’t you’ll be missing out on all the fun. Also, if you do watch TV, don’t watch shitty stuff like Two and a Half Men, Mike & Molly, or anything else on CBS (besides How I Met Your Mother).
